Kelvin BSGMT Review: Lunar C at ClubXS – Larynx Entertainment

Words by Kelvin BSGMT

So, last Saturday night (03.06.23) I had the pleasure of going to Club XS in Wrexham for a Larynx entertainment event. Lunar C was topping the bill, with excellent support from HDEE and the Welsh legend himself, Mr Phormula.

Up first was HDEE who brought his whole crew along with him, performing three solo songs before bringing his guests on stage alongside him. The DJ (which I hope I’m correct) was Tony Star, one of the best DJ, backing singers and hypemen i’ve ever seen or heard live.

After a well organised beer, fag and toilet break we were rewarded with an absolutely quality set from Mr Phormula. Showcasing his wide range of skills, from beatboxing to free styling the words from random objects presented by an engaged crowd. We also had three awesome exclusives from his upcoming album. When speaking to Dave Acton after the event, he said; “Mr Phormula was another level that night”, and he wasn’t lying, it was absolutely class.

Another quick pint, piss, puff and it was headline time. The crowd was now totally hyped and ready for it. Lunar C was incredible; from track selection, crowd interaction, he was highly entertaining in between songs, and just his sheer presence on the stage was amazing.

Lunar had us all laughing, singing and dancing. The place was rocking by the end of the set. Towards the end of one song the mic cut out but Lunar C and DJ Heritage styled it right out by being cool, calm and professional.

I wish that I’d have caught it all on camera, but to be honest I was having too good a time to film more than I did.

A truly fantastic night, and well worth the seven hour round trip. Friendly staff, brilliant crowd and amazing performances from all the artists. Big ups to Dave and all involved putting it together and massive thanks to T-Rev for driving, and of course to the main act, the incredible Lunar C.
