Conscious Route is a rapper, MC, poet and singer-songwriter who was born in London before moving to Edinburgh over a decade ago.
In 2020 he unleashed the collaborative – ‘Lost Routes’ album, alongside producer True Note – The album received a 4-star review in The Scotsman and picked out for a ‘track of the week’ on BBC Introducing Scotland. In addition to this – his last two releases ‘Trojan’ and his feature on ‘Dragons Jaw’ by ‘Post Coal Prom Queen’ were named track of the week on BBC Introducing Scotland and his Sensory EP from August was a collaboration with producer Toni Smoke – which saw 2 tracks receive worldwide airplay on Rapstation 365 – Radio station of legendary Chuck D.
‘The Oblique Oppression EP’ is a thundering blend of contemporary sounds and old-school execution showcasing Conscious Route’s diversity and versatility as an artist and a willingness to embrace more cutting-edge production styles while not compromising his individuality or past credentials. The EP is produced fellow Edinburgh-based beat-maker – Crink and cuts by iconic UK turntablist, DJ JabbaThaKut on the track ‘C4’.
